Lecture By Datri Blood Stem Donors Group

It’s an honor to the Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing to welcome the DATRI group to accomplish their aim on the campaign on “ ACT NOW. GIFT A LIFE ”, Ignite the youth to donate the blood stem cell to save the life of the needy. The lecture was taken by Ms. Sonali A Bhandarkar, Manager-CSR Initiatives, DATRI Blood stem donors. It was kind of Dr. Mrs. Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune for allowing conducting awareness program and Mrs. Vaishali J who gave warm welcome to Ms. Sonali Bhandarkar. The session took place on 13th October 2019 and 14th October 2019, which was taken care of by Mrs. Vaishali J, Asst. Professor, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The session was organized in the B.Sc Nursing classroom of Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The Second year B.Sc nursing, Third year B.Sc nursing, First-year GNM nursing, Second year GNM nursing, First-year P.B.B.Sc nursing, First-year M.Sc nursing students were included for the session. The session began with the lecture on blood stem cell donors by Ms. Sonal Bhandarkar. She dealt about DATRI, it works towards creating a wide and diverse database of potential blood stem cell donors that can be assessed by any patients, living anywhere in the world, in need of blood stem cell transplant. Further, the session was continued by watching the video showing a glimpse of their work. She explained the process of donation, where the donor registration form, consent form, a cheek swab is collected for HLA testing and the database is stored. Then the faculty and students had taken initiative for donating the blood stem cell by giving their consent. It was an effective exchange of information. The session was very effective to all and it was an opportunity to have them with their cause Act now. Get a life.
