Awareness on Fine Motor Skills/hand Eye Coordination in Dentistry

The College of Physiotherapy conducted a lecture on ‘AWARENESS ON FINE MOTOR SKILLS/HAND EYE COORDINATION IN DENTISTRY’ for the first year to final year students in Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pune on 18th October 2019, between 9- 10 am and 12- 1 pm. The lecture was given by Dr. Ajay Malshikare (PT), from Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Department and his team consisting of PG students: R Keerthana, Vanisha steven, Pallavi Desai, Shrushti Shelke, Swati Yadav, Kritika Saxena, Nidhi Chandra, Shilpa & Ruveet G. Almost 140 students attended the lecture along with Dental faculty members. The objective of the lecture was to make dental students aware of fine motor skills and the importance of hand-eye coordination in their daily dentistry practice. Dr. Ajay gave an introductory lecture about fine motor skill and hand-eye coordination, followed by Ms. Vanisha Steven speaking on the Pathophysiology of repetitive stress injuries that students can get exposed to. After this lecture, Ms.Pallavi Desai took a session on exercise to be done to improve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Ms. R. Keerthana concluded the lecture by giving detailed information about Ergonomics in dentistry. Dr.Shweta Shetty and Dr.Devika Kanade (Dental Faculty) coordinated the event and motivated the students to come forward and give names if anyone had issues related to fine motor skill and hand-eye coordination.
