Onam Celebration

Onam is a harvest festival celebrated in Kerala. It falls during the first Malayalam month of Chingam (August-September) and lasts for ten days. It is also considered as a New Year celebration. To foster the spirit of Unity in Diversity, Onam Festival was celebrated on Campus on 17th September 2019. It was celebrated amidst great cheer and cultural extravaganza witnessed mass participation. Students were all dressed up in traditional attires to celebrate and engage themselves in the Keralan beauty. Students decorated the porch with an intricate floral design called Pookalam which was eye-catching. The celebration began with lightning of the lamp and girls performing traditional dance form 'Thiruvathira' around the lamp in order to praise & rejoice the bounties of nature. It continued with another dance performance by the students on Keralan film song which cheered the audience and created enthusiasm as well. The celebration began at 4:30 pm in the evening in front of the college reception area where pookalam was marked with flowers in front of the college temple to showcase the beauty of the festival and add life to it. For entertainment purposes, the musical chair was arranged for the students and the faculty members. A mixture of competitive spirit and fun was observed during the game and the winners were awarded prizes. The celebration ended on a good and positive note.
