International Advanced Training Program on Adolescent Health (IATAPAH) : 2019

IATPAH2019 was a 5 days grand program held from 3rd-7th October 2019 hosted by AACCI-ASSSOCIATION OF ADOLESCENT ANDCHILDCARE IN INDIA, in collaboration with D. Y. PATIL VIDYAPEETH, PIMPRI, PUNEAND WESTERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY HOMER STRYER M.D. SCHOOL OF MEDICINE. Theprogram was organized by the Department of Paediatrics, Dr. D. Y. Patil MedicalCollege, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune. 

Dr. S.R. Agarkhedkar was Coordinator, Dr. Swati Y. Bhave was Course Director and Dr.Shailaja Mane was Organizing Secretary IATPAH 2019. Other members were Dr.Vineeta Pande Dr. Renuka Jadhav, Dr. Geeta Karamblekar, Dr. Shradha Salunke.

Internationalfaculty were Dr. Dilip Patel, Professor, and Chair of Department of Pediatricsand Adolescent Medicine, Western Michigan University, Homer Stryker MD schoolof medicine, USA, Dr. Donald E. Greydanus, Department of Pediatrics andAdolescent Medicine, Western Michigan University, Homer Stryker MD School ofMedicine, USA, Dr. Neelkamal Soares, Dr. Roger W. Apple, and Dr. Anagha Jayakarand renowned national faculty Dr. Swati Bhave, Executive Director of AACCI, Dr.Preeti Galagali Co-chair IATPAH and other dignitaries were invited asspeakers. 

Athree days training program for Pediatricians was held from 3rd Oct. to 5thOct. 2019. Fifteen Interactive sessions were held on CONSENT &CONFIDENTIALITY, COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR OFFICE PRACTICE, EXCESSIVE ADDICTIONTO SCREEN GADGETS, BODY IMAGE, SLEEP PROBLEMS, and DIFFERENT SEXUAL ORIENTATION.Each of these interactive sessions was accompanied by a case scenario in theform of role-playing. It was attended by more than 130 delegates from all overIndia and was appreciated by them.

The inaugural ceremony was held on 4th October at 5 pm in the college auditorium.Dr. N. J. Pawar, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pimpri, Pune,was the Chief Guest, Dr. A. N. Suryakar, Registrar, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth,Pimpri, Pune, Dr. Amarjeet Singh, Principal Director and CEO, Dr. J. S.Bhawalkar, Dean, Dr. Dilip Patel, Donald E Greydanus, and Dr. Swati Bhave, MrYashwant S. Bhave, Ex-Secretary of the Govt. of India, Ministry of ConsumerAffairs, New Delhi were the dignitaries for the event. It started with lamplighting followed by felicitations, welcome address, and address by dignitaries.It was mastered by Dr. Sampada Tambolkar, concluded with a vote of thanks byDr. Swati Bhave.

Workshopon ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH was held on the 6th of Oct. 2019 for thePediatricians and interactive sessions were held on common problems of mentalhealth issues, violence, and aggression in adolescents, gender dysphoria, andAutism spectrum, Management of severe depression and suicide prevention,Vulnerability and overview of various addictions in adolescents, learningdisorders and ADHD and workstations. Under the supervision of Dr. D. Saldanha,Course Director, Dr. Archana Javadekar, Organizing Secretary, Dr. SuprakashChoudhary, Convener, it was attended by 100 delegates.  

AdolescentSports Health was held on the 6th of Oct.2019 for sports care personnel andphysiotherapists and interactive sessions were held on the Importance of sports,Adolescent growth and sports, pre-participation evaluation, psychosocialaspects, sports doping and supplements, sexual abuse in sports. It was attendedby 80 members. 

Teachersand parents are the pillars for the holistic development of children andadolescents. On the 7th of Oct, the workshop was held for Teachers and illustrativespeakers from Australia and India delivered lectures with interactivediscussion from participants and workstations with group discussions werecarried out. It was participated by 80 delegates.
