Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Celebration

Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute, Tathawade, Pune celebratedMahatma Gandhi Jayanti (150th birth anniversary of our Father of Nation) onTuesday, 1st October, 2019. A total of 250 students from B. Tech.Biotechnology, B. Tech. Medical Biotechnology, M. Tech. (Int) Biotechnology andM. Sc. Biotechnology attended the program. The program was graced by theDirector, Prof. J K Pal and 30 faculty members. 

Theprogram commenced with a brief introduction about Mahatma Gandhi by HeenaKhurana, the GS of Student Council. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi popularly knownas Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbander, Gujarat. The 2ndof October is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti all over India. Small talk onBahadur Shastri’s and Mahatma Gandhi’s life and their contribution wasdelivered by Shreya Ray. She explained how Mahatma Gandhi used truth, peace andnon-violence as his weapons to free India from the British colonial rule. 

MahatmaGandhi’s favourite bhajan: ‘Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram Patit Pavan Sita Ram” wassung by Shailaja from second year B. Tech. Medical Biotechnology. It wasfollowed by a beautiful duet dance performance by Aarushi and Shreya fromsecond year B. Tech. Biotechnology on a patriotic song. Their performance washighly appreciated and applauded. 

Inconclusion, Dr. J. K Pal emphasized how the efforts of freedom fighters andsuch great political leaders made India an independent country and that laid astrong foundation of today’s India. He also urged to follow the footsteps ofthese proficient scholars, work for the benefit and welfare of our society. Headvised students to introspect and correct themselves in order to achievegoals. The program was concluded with a National anthem in order to pay respectto the nation and all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom ofour country. This marked the end of the entire event.

Theentire program was organized by Students’ Council of DYPBBI and they wereguided by faculty members Dr. Manisha Junnarkar, Dr. Ashwini Puntambekar andMr. Amol Salagare.
