Guest Session on Digital Agriculture and Usage of A. I. in Farming

Studentshad the pleasure of listening to Mr. Dinesh Bhoir the Crop Manager – Tomato andPGH South Asia when he heartily talked about the new dawn of digitalization inAgriculture. He explained about Seed production technology and its uses inmodern farming and the effectiveness of the seed technologies that include A.Isystem of farming and Digital agriculture.

Heenlightened all and said this type of advance farming practices are and will bevery helpful in the near future. He also gave information about the fertilizersand the common misconception of people towards it. Fertilizers are created inorder to make the soil more effective that would help the crop to get moreproductive. Fertilizers are created differently for a different type ofdeficiency in soil and the requirement of the crop of a certain specificnutrient. Digital agriculture is a type of farming that is not just limited toprecision farming but also affects the whole agri-food sectors and also acts asa bridge between the agriculture and commerce sectors.

Thedifferent types of aspects that combine and form digital agriculture are AI,machine learning, distributed ledger technology digital communicationtechnologies, digital platforms i.e. agro-advisory apps, etc. precision farmingtechnologies that include sensors, GPS, GNSS, variable-rate input, Automaticsection control, advance imaging, automated machinery, and agricultural robots.All these aspects come together and give a farmer a better understanding andhis/her footing in the field of agriculture which is constantly growing.
