On 21st March, the Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Students’ Council collectively decided to hold CYTOSOUL 2022 from 7th April to 13th April. The college organized various cultural and sports activities. The whole event was divided into 7 days which consisted of 3 days for cultural events and 4 days for sports. In both competitions, the matches were conducted in a league format between years 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th for both boys and girls. The first day of Cytosoul held on the 7th of April was themed colourful traditional and was named Sarang. The second day held on 11th April was themed whites and lights and was named Celeste.

Day 1

Cultural fiesta began with the inauguration by the Director of DYPBBI, Prof. J.K. Pal and a ribbon was cut to mark the beginning. The first day of Cytosoul was named “SARANG”. The girls shone brightly in their traditional beautiful sarees while the boys looked dapper in their Indian outfits.

The day began with vibrant cultural performances. Folk dances of different states like Bhangra, Garba, South Indian, West Bengal etc., instantly uplifted everyone’s mood. This energetic day came to an end with The Big Hit Show, a play which was an initiative taken up by the members of four majorly active clubs of the college.

Day 2, 3,4 and 6 were dedicated to various sports events in which all the students from all the courses and semester participated.

Day 5

The western day began with the ribbon cutting ceremony inaugurated by our Director, Prof. J. K. Pal followed by various power packed performances by the students of DYPBBI. The theme for the western day was “whites and lights” and hence all the students were dressed up in their stunning formal attire. Towards the end there was a ball dance session in which all the students and the teachers took part followed by an amazing DJ performance.

Day 7

Last but not least the stage was set for the final and much-awaited day of Cytosoul 2022 held at Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Auditorium. The event began with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. N. J. Pawar, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Smita Jadav, Trustee & Director, Dr. (Col.) Derek SJ D’Souza, Director (Students training and development), Prof. J.K. Pal and Dr. Arvind Goja. It was followed by Saraswati Vandana hailing the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. The prize distribution of all sports was done by Prof. J.K. Pal. This day was full of amazing performances from our college students. We witnessed various graceful dances and melodious songs. The wonderful performances elevated the mood of the evening. This was followed by a spectacular fashion show put together by the students. The themes for the fashion show were Aurelia, Bollywood Retro, Esmerade and Texas Roadhouse. The newly elected student council also graced the stage with their Fashion walk followed by a token of appreciation for the décor and management teams. The House Cup was a newly introduced concept this year wherein all the years competed in sports to win the title. House Cup 2022 was bagged by the 3rd years who gave a tough competition to all the years. The evening ended after a vote of thanks by our beloved General Secretary Mr. Keshav Mittal. We enjoyed a lot and dispersed with a sincere hope that such mega-events should be organized time and again giving the students a chance to display their talents.

The event concluded with the 3rd years winning the house cup. The event pushed the students to socialise among themselves and other classes. The gap which was formed between different year students and batches due to Covid-19 and lockdown was successfully narrowed down a lot. Students achieved. The students displayed magnificent efforts and achievements in the field of Sports and Cultural Activities.

We want to thank the faculty coordinators for their constant guidance, the students for their active participation and lastly the institution, DYPBBI, itself for conducting this event.
