Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Nursing



To raise public awareness, Dr. D. Y Patil College of Nursing observed a World Health Day on April 7. The day is celebrated annually in accordance with the World Health Organization’s aim to discuss health-related issues and to draw attention to specific health issues concerning people across the world. The first World Health Day was celebrated and observed in 1950, after 7 April was set aside as a designated date to celebrate the creation of the World Health Organization in 1948 in the First Health Assembly. The day thereby marks the anniversary of WHO after it was established in 1948.

The main aim of the day was to promote awareness regarding health among the general public. “Our Planet and Our Health” was the theme of World Health Day, 2022.

This day was observed at Multipurpose hall Dr. D. Y. Patil college of nursing under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing and organized by I st year M.Sc Nursing, supported and guided by the class coordinator of I st year M.Sc Nursing Dr. Sadhana Adhyapak,co-coordinator Dr. Sucheta Yangad, second-year B. Sc coordinator Mrs. Martha Raut and other faculty members .

The panel discussion was inaugurated with lamp lighting by Dr. Mrs. Rupali Salvi, Principal, all HOD, and class coordinator of I st year B.Sc. Nursing. The keynote address was given by Dr. Mrs. Rupali Salvi, Principal of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing she also disclosed the theme of world health day and its importance .

The chairperson of the panel discussion was Mr.Abhijit Bhore, I st year MSc Nursing, and the host of the program was Ms.Aboli Bathe. There were four panelists in this panel discussion i.e

Ms. Prerana Salvi introduced the topic and discussed the importance of world health day, Ms. Archana Patil explained air pollution and water pollution, Ms. Sweety Deb explained water pollution and deforestation, and Mrs. Kavita Rikhari explained about a healthy diet and clean household energy for health. First-year B.Sc nursing students attended the panel discussion.

In the end many questions were asked by students and all doubts were cleared by panelists. The session was very interesting and informative .

In RHTC Dr. Shweta Gangule, Medical Officer, declared the theme of the day. Students of 2nd year BSc nursing presented Role Play to promote health among the public. And poster exhibition was done by First and second-year Nursing students .

Dr. Shamkant Kulkarni, Medical Officer Delivered a speech on account of World Health Day, Mrs. Martha Raut, expressed her views and encouraged the public to maintain health. At last Mr. Joseph Cherain, Health superintendent provided information regarding health and its maintenance.

The Vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Aniket Ingle .

The overall program was successful because students recognized their vital role in raising awareness and emphasizing the need of promoting health.
