World Obesity Day

On the occasion of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” Kayachikitsa Department as an IQAC initiative had organized health awareness program on “WorldObesity Day “on 4th March 2022.

The inauguration program was started at 11.00 am. Dr. Shreya Bhatiya (PG) welcomed all guests and briefed everyone about the program. Dr. Neha (intern) recited Lord Dhanvantari Stavan. Dr. Aqsa Khan (PG) highlighted the importance of World Obesity Day and the modern aspect of obesity – i.e. BMI, the criteria of obesity, preventive measure & factors leading to primary & secondary obesity.

Dr. Snehal Pansane (PG) shared the Ayurvedic aspect of obesity in today’s Era. The causative factors, symptoms, pathology, treatment according to Ayurveda were explained to the audience.

Dr. Shweta Kodre (PG) gave a detailed explanation of Pathya & Apathya related to obesity. Maharaj, Viharaj & daily routine changes according to Ayurveda were explained.

Vice Principal Dr. Khade sir shared his knowledge & experience about the eating habits of today’s generation, he also explained the importance of organic food.

PG. Coordinator Dr. D. G. Dipankar sir then explained the clinical experience about the Sthaulya and its Ayurvedic management along with yoga, Surya Namaskar, pranayama, and their efficacy in obesity management.

Principal Dr. G. H. Yeola sir shared his knowledge regarding the occupational variability, how advancement in technology has back yarded the natural lifestyle like bicycling, walking, etc.

The program was well conducted by Faculty and postgraduate students of the Kayachikitsa department. Around 85 members including teaching staff, nonteaching, UG, PG students, and paramedical staff attended the program.

BMI monitoring campaign announcement was done for the next one week and the Program concluded with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Shreya (PG)
