Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Optometry and Visual Sciences in association with DPU foundation for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship organized a guest lecture on 16th February 2022 at 11:30 a.m. via virtual platform.

The topic of discussion for the meet was “Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made” and it was graced by a renowned person in the field of optometry, Mrs. Kunda Ganatra ma’am, M. optom (Contact lens specialist.)

The program was hosted by Sunidhi Sharma of 3rd year B.optom and it was commenced by welcoming the chief guest by our respected director Dr. Veshal Madan.

The guest lecture gave a brief insight on her overall life and professional career highlighting the importance of research and development and our inquisitiveness as a student in course of successful optometry career. She elaborated on how she developed an interest in contact-lenses because of her father Dr. S. H. Marathay who was a pioneer in contact-lenses and manufactured as well as dispensed PMMA scleral lenses. Adding on she talked about her practice fields including a fellowship in London Association of contact-lens Practitioners, fellowship in National Eye Research foundation (USA).

She has also served as professor Dnyan Prabodhini, Bharti Vidyapeeth and other renowned institutes. She believes that growth and entrepreneurship have a dynamic relation and stagnancy in life can hamper the growth. Furthermore she encouraged the students to learn, practice work ethics and develop passion for work with positive approach.

Most importantly, she encouraged the students to take up research and put forth innovative ideas. The DPU Innovation and Incubation cell helps the students in this regard. It provides a support and opportunities to young, budding minds with novel ideas, innovation to help them present and patent their unique ideas & research works.

The meet was concluded with Question-Answer session with the Guest where she interacted with the faculty and students.
