World Diabetes Day

World diabetes day is celebrated and observed on 14th November every year across the world. The global prevalence of diabetes has nearly doubled since 1980, rising from 4.7% to 8.5% in the adult population. This reflects an increase in associated risk factors such as being overweight or obese. The theme for World Diabetes Day 2021 is access to diabetes care.

World diabetes day observation was inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs). Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The day was observed at the OPD, First floor, Hi-tech building, Dr. D Y Patil Hospital, and Research center, Pune on 15th November 2021 at 10:30 am. The health day observation was conducted by II Year P.B.B.Sc Nursing students under the guidance of Mrs. Ceena Bejoy and Ms. Seri Lollen.

The session began with welcoming all patients and relatives at the OPD Venue. Then the theme was unfolded by Dr. (Mrs). Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The theme for the world diabetes day 2021 “Access to diabetes care”. Teaching Faculties of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing & INE attended and appreciated the student's work during the health care observation.

The students have presented Charts, posters and flash cards and explained regarding World diabetes day. Students gave awareness regarding diabetes, its causes, types, clinical features, management and prevention. The doubts were cleared and information was been provided to the audience. Overall World diabetes day - health day observation programme was very educative and informative for all patients and the relatives.
