Global Handwashing Day

Global Hand washing Day is observed on 15th October all over the Globe. Global Handwashing Day was founded by the Global Handwashing Partnership, and is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times. The 2021 Global Handwashing Day theme is “Our Future is at Hand – Let’s Move Forward Together.” 

This day was celebrated at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing by First Year B.Sc. Nursing students and supported by teachers Dr. Mrs. Shweta Joshi Class Co-ordinator, Mrs. Avnee Naik and Mr. Sanjay Sabde, 2 pm to 3 pm under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Rupali Salvi, Principal Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing.

Welcoming speech was delivered by Ms. Sakshi Wable First year B.Sc. Nursing Student Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing unfolding of the Theme was done by Dr. (Mrs.) Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing.

The students displayed a video on the steps of handwashing. Its content included:

  1. Wet hands with water and apply enough soap to cover the entirety of hand surfaces .
  2.  Rub your palms together, ensuring that lather builds up.
  3.  Put your right palm over your left hands, interlacing the fingers, ensuring between each finger is clean. Then put left over right.
  4.  Interlace your fingers with palm to palm.
  5.  Put the backs of fingers facing the opposing palm - ensuring you are cleaning your nails also.
  6.  Rotational rubbing of both thumbs.
  7.  Rotational rubbing, backwards and forwards between clasped fingers on right palm then on left.
  8.  Rotational rubbing of both wrists.
  9.  Rinse your hands thoroughly with water.
  10.  Use a single-use towel to dry your hands and use that towel to turn off the tap.

Followed by E-posters competition on various aspect of hand washing presented by the students, there were total 10 participants. The judges for E- Poster Competitions were Dr. Mrs. Sadhana Adhyapak and Dr. Ms. Sucheta Yangad. The First prize winner was Ms. Raginee Meshram and Second prize winner was Mr. Ravi Wagh.

Dr. (Mrs.) Rupali Salvi, Principal Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing addressed the audience followed by Vote of thanks by Ms. Payal Sant First year B.Sc. Nursing Student Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing.

All Faculties Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing & INE along with First Year GNM students attended the zoom meeting. Total approximately 150 students and faculty had attended the programme. Over all programmes was very educative and informative for all audience.
