CME on Introduction of Newer Vaccines in the National Immunization Programme

Activity: CME on Introduction of newer vaccines in the National Immunization Programme, Adverse Events Following Immunization and Surveillance of vaccine preventable diseases. This CME was organized on 25/08/2021 by the Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Chetan Khade, Surveillance Medical Officer working with the Govt of India and WHO was the guest speaker. He enlightened the participants with newer vaccines introduced, AEFI which could be minor, severe and serious and their reporting at different level. Surveillance of Measles, Rubella, Pertussis, Diphtheria, Neonatal Tetanus and Acute flaccid paralysis is also equally important as some of these diseases are eliminated from India but we are still at risk because the cases are prevalent in neighboring countries. He also gave a brief on the side effects of covid vaccines followed by a discussion session where the doubts of participants were clarified. Faculties and Residents of Department of Community Medicine and Pediatrics and MSWs were the participants.
