ENTREPRENEURSHIP - “BELIEVE IT, BEFORE YOU SEE IT”

The Startup & Innovation cell of  Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Pimpri, Pune had organized  a  virtual  guest lecture on ENTREPRENEURSHIP-“BELIEVE IT,BEFORE YOU SEE IT” on 13th July2021. The guest lecture was a self driven activity supported by Institution & rsquo;s Innovation Council (IIC) Ministry of education (MOE) Government of India.

The aim of this virtual lecture was to make the students and staff aware about the diversity in Physical Therapy practice in the Indian and the Overseas Setup.The lecture began with a warm welcome to the speaker Dr. Khyati Merchant (PT) by Rutuja Malwade of MPT I, student member of the Startup & Innovation cell of Dr. D Y Patil College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Khyati Merchant (PT) is working at the Woerner Physical Therapy and is the founder of Lotus Physical Therapy and Wellness, Dallas, USA.

This virtual lecture  was attended by 23 students and 10 staff members, and was conducted for 1 hour duration, whereby the participants were instructed about the diversity in the Physical Therapy practice between the Indian and the Overseas Setup,involving the difference in the referral system as well as the therapy options.The speaker shared  experiences of her journey of the challenges and barriers   faced,also  insight on  the different marketing strategies which every entrepreneur should be aware of while setting up their enterprise were also discussed. In addition to it, Dr. Khyati shared valuable knowledge on her expertise on Pelvic Health which included identification of various pelvic dysfunctions, assessments and the treatment options available.An array of case scenarioswerediscussed by the speaker at the end of the session.The session thus provided insight to various aspects of Physical therapy practice in the Overseas Setup,thereby encouraging and motivating the participants to improve their inner urge to become successful entrepreneurs in future.The lecture was concluded by the vote of thanks given by Dr Seema Saini, Professor & Co-ordinator of Start-up and Innovation cell,for the valuable information shared.
