Environment Day

Saturday, June 05, 2021 |Online |NSS Activity

United Nations  day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. It has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issue such as marine pollution, human overpopulation, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. On 5th June 2021, NSS Unit of Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy observed World Environment Day using online zoom platform. The theme for World Environment Day 2021 is: “Ecosystem Restoration” under the campaign Reimaging, Recreate, Restore.  Based on the theme for 2021, participants presented their ideas to help, conserve and restore ecosystem with by putting their ideas on “Best out of Waste Activities” and “Creative Writing” so the environment remain neat clean and healthy for years.

The emergence of COVID-19 has also shown just how disastrous the consequences of ecosystem loss can be. Ecosystem loss is dispossessing the world of carbon sinks, like forests and peat lands, at time humanity can’t afford it. The World Environment Day is focusing in the ecosystem restoration i.e. to go from exploiting nature towards healing it. The motive behind such activity at institution level is to develop interest among student towards nature and the health benefits out of it.

The activity is organized under the guidance of Principal Dr Tushar J.Palekar & Dr Reema Joshi and executed by Final year BPT students. Varun Pohekar & Priyal Baghel. 35 NSS volunteers have attended this session.
