Anti-terrorism Day

Anti-Terrorism Day is observed on May 21 in India every year. The objective behind the observance of this day is to wean away from the youth from terrorism and the cult of violence by highlighting the suffering of common people and showing how it is prejudicial to the national interest. It was on this day in the year 1991 that former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. This year commemorates Rajiv Gandhi’s 30th death anniversary as India observes Anti-Terrorism Day.

NSS unit of Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Physiotherapy observed Anti- Terrorism day by conducting online awareness lecture on "Anti- terrorism and role of Youth ".The lecture was delivered by PG-II student Mr.Chaitanya Pathak where he explained about terrorism, why it is chosen to be observed on 21st may. Anti-terrorism day is observed to refrain youth being indulge in such activity and disintegrate the communal harmony in society.  Session also includes what are the ways NSS volunteers remain alert and avoid happening of such thing. The event was done under the guidance of Principal Dr. Tushar Palekar and event was coordinated by Dr.Reema Joshi the event was concluded with vote of thanks by Mr.Varun Pohekar (NSS student coordinator, DYPCOP) total 28 students participated in the program. The event was well appreciated by all volunteers.
