World blood donor day is celebrated and observed on 14th June every year across the world. The aim is to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion. Safe blood and blood products and their transfusion are a critical aspect of care and public health. They save millions of lives and improve the health and quality of life of many patients every day.

World blood donor day observation was inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs). Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The day was observed through Online Zoom platform on 11th June 2021 at 10:30 am. The health day observation was conducted by II Year P.B.B.Sc Nursing students under the guidance of Mrs. Ceena Bejoy, and Ms. Seri Lollen.

The session began with welcoming all participants. Then the theme was unfolded by Dr. (Mrs). Rupali Salvi, Principal, Dr. D Y Patil College of Nursing, Pune. The theme for the world blood donor day 2021 “Give blood and keep the world beating”. Teaching Faculties of Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Nursing & INE attended and appreciated the student's work during the health care observation. The beneficiaries of the programme were around 106 participants which included the B.Sc Nursing students.

The students have presented E posters and explained regarding World blood donor day. Students gave awareness regarding importance of blood donation and which blood group people can donate the blood to which blood group people. The doubts were cleared and information was been provided to the participants. Vote of thanks was given by the student. Overall World blood donor day - health day observation programme was very educative and informative for all participants.
