Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune won coveted position in the “Guinness Book of World Records”

Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune has won a coveted position in the Guinness Book of World Records by screening the most number of individuals in one hour for hypertension on the eve of World Heart Day’ 2018.  

This was announced at a press conference by Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. D Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune organized on February 25, 2019.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune participated in the “High Blood Pressure Awareness Campaign” organized by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited (India) on 24-9-2018. The Pharmaceuticals Company is known for marketing anti-hypertensive medicines. 

The campaign was conducted at 37 venues across the country from 11 am. to 12 am. In Pune, Dr. D Y. Patil College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pune and one other hospital had participated.

During that hour, 307 individuals were checked at Dr. D. Y.  Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pune and a total of 11,416 individuals across India. At Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune the whole initiative was supervised by Dr. A. L. Kakrani, Professor & Head of Department of General Medicine and Associate Professor Dr. Mansi Harale.  The duo received a certificate of participation from GBWR.

To conduct the drive successfully, 10 nurses were specially trained and standard equipments were used which were provided by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited (India). The whole campaign was photographed and videos were made and later send to the Guinness Book of World Record office in London.  The stupendous achievement was recognized by GBWR and Dr. D Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre received a certificate for the same.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. P. D. Patil, Chancellor said, “It is indeed a momentous occasion for us. Dr. D. Y. Patil  Medical  College, Hospital & Research Centre has achieved another milestone! We take pride in the fact that our efforts have been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. It is another feather in our cap.”  

For the uninitiated, Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre is one of Maharashtra’s largest state-of-the-art Hospital and Research Center with latest facilities and services. The mission of Dr. D. Y. Patil Hospital & Research Centre, Pune is to provide patient focused healthcare.  It endeavors to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities by providing compassionate, accessible, high quality, cost effective healthcare. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune said, “The Vidyapeeth has been re-accredited by NAAC with 3.62 CGPA on a four point scale at ‘A’ Grade and has secured the 52nd rank in the University Category and 18th rank in Medical Category in India (under National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2018.) Infact, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune is also declared as Category-I University by UGC under Graded Autonomy, 2018. It is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified University.”
