Thursday 7th February 2019 ten students along with Dr. Sinnarkar V V from Dr. D. Y. PAtil Homoeopathic Medical College, Pimpri, Pune visited the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Aundh from 12 pm to 2 pm. There were a total 7 divisions which were ready for exhibition on OPEN DAY.
The first division was biology division, where the researcher informed about IPC Sec 302, (Murder), 307 (Attempt to Murder),376 (Rape) and section 396 (Dacoity) . The nature of detection was by blood stains, saliva stains, semen stains, and hair. They explained to us the procedure of detection of blood and blood grouping of the criminals.
The second division was of the DNA division which has application in murder, rape, accidents, identification of mutilated bodies parentage dispute, missing person etc. It included the procedure of DNA fingerprinting and profiling.
The third division was of the cyber forensic division the Cyber forensic is applicable as the information traverses from data to digital evidence. The researcher explained to us how the edited and original photographs can be distinguished and how the original photo is manipulated. The person explained it in a very understandable way.
The fourth division was about cyber forensic instruments and steps. They showed us the instruments by which mobile tracking, data backup can be done.
The fifth and sixth division was about toxicology and substance abuse. The researcher showed us the narcotic drugs originated in India and its Use.
The seventh division was about Prohibition and excise division the following samples received under Mumbai Prohibition act 1949 for analysis. Country liquor, denaturated spirit, french polish, and Indian made etc.
The visit was very informative and helpful to understand the procedure if FSL.
