CDE Programme : Painless to Pain free dentistry’ and ‘Fresh Breath Clinic’

On the 5thofFebruary, 2018, the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Dr. D.YPatil Dental College and Hospital, successfully conducted a CDE Programme onthe topic ‘Painless to Pain free dentistry’ and ‘Fresh Breath Clinic’.


The occasion wasgraced by the Dean of Dr. D.Y Patil Dental College and Hospital, Dr.Gopalakrishnan and the Registrar, Dr. Sanjivani Shelke. The programme startedwith the auspicious lightening of lamp and invoking the Goddess of knowledgewith singing of the Saraswati stotra to bless us. The guest speaker, Dr YusufChunawala, Professor and Head of the Department of Pedodontics, M.A RangoonwalaDental College was felicitated by Dr Aditi Mathur. The Dean and the Registrarwere given a formal welcome and felicitated at the hands of the head of thedepartment Dr Vikas Bendgude and Dr Ananth Kamath respectively. DrGopalakrishnan sir then addressed the gathering and wished the best for thesuccess of this CDE programme.


Dr Chunawala knownfor the fun and yet knowledge filled lectures lived upto his reputation andpresented with a lecture that grabbed the young budding dentists’ attention.The lecture was both informative and interesting.


Will Rogers has said‘Pain is such an uncomfortable feeling that even a slight amount of it can beunbearable’.Control of pain is crucial for any branch of dentistry, but when itcomes to Pedodontics, it has unparallelled importance. Our guest speaker wiselychose a topic which was essential to each and every participant.The lecturecovered theoretical concepts, explained with the help of practical examplesfrom day to day clinical practice. The younger new face of dentistry is alwayslooking for newer ideas to improve their practice. Dr Yusuf Chunawala caughtthis beat and introduced to the crowd his idea of ‘Fresh Breath Clinic’a uniqueway to improve one’s day to day practice. The audience was indeed motivated andinspired to try this method in their practice.


Dr Meenakshi Nankar,the moderator for the programme helped run the whole programme smoothly. Thetwo hours lecture was followed by an interactive session of doubt clearing anddiscussion with the speaker. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Vikas Bendgudeat the end of the audience interaction session.The CDE programme was attendedby more than 60 participants including various PG students and faculty membersfrom different colleges across Pune.The management’s unwavering support and thePedodontic team’s efforts culminated in this beautiful and highly successfulCDE programme.
