The annual fest of Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute, Pune "CYTOSOUL 2023" was held from the 14th March to 18th March 2023. The much-awaited multi-day event consists of various activities such as cultural performances, music concerts, dance competitions, fashion shows, singing and exhibitions. It was an opportunity for the students to showcase their extra-curricular potential and competitive spirit. The student council ensured that the event ran smoothly. All the faculty members, research scholars and non-teaching staff enthusiastically participated in the event. The cultural extravaganza began on the 14th March with the traditional day, with the theme Meraki which means.to create with love and passion. The dress code for the day was Indian wear. Respected Director, Prof. Neelu Nawani inaugurated the event with the ribbon cutting. The institute was filled with vibrant decorations which were done by the decoration team using various handmade items. The program started with the lighting of the lamp along with Saraswati-Vandana. The day began with the Dhol-Taasha; an energetic and mesmerizing performance followed by traditional dances of various states including Maharashtra, Gujrat, and Bengal. The enactments were further elevated when there was a face-off between the North and the South enthralling dance. Dr. Jyoti Deshpande, Assistant Prof performed a mono-act play in Marathi. The event came to a fun-filled end with the students dancing to the beats of the DJ.
The second day, 15th March 2023 was 'The 90's vs GenZ Bollywood' day. The decor consisted of posters of iconic Bollywood movies and large camera rolls adorned the walls. Students dressed up as their favorite characters from these movies and performed various dances and acts from the different eras of Bollywood. On the same day, in the afternoon, an exhibition was held in the library hall to display the craftsmanship talents of the students. Items ranging from clay pots, paintings, henna tattoos, room decor, and a few food items were displayed. The day ended with a few more performances of Bollywood and wanting for more on the next day.
The third day, 16th March 2023 was the much-awaited Western day, with the theme 'Nuit D'Amor', which means a beautiful evening filled with love. Students dressed in formal attire, suits or tuxedos for boys and various types of western dresses for girls. Presidents of each hobby club like photography, painting, public speaking, etc. gave a small presentation of respective activities in boot camp to introduce and encourage students to join the various clubs that the university offers. A beautiful ballroom dance was kept which was the highlight of the day! Several fascinating western performances were given by students and the day ended with DJ.
Finally, everyone was ready for the grand finale of Cytosoul 2023 which was on 18th Match 2023. Dignitaries from Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Honourable Chancellor, Dr. P. D. Patil sir, Honourable Trustee and Executive Director Dr. Smita Jadhav madam, Respected Registrar Dr. A. N. Suryakar sir and Director for Students Training Development, Dr. Derek Dsouza were present to grace the occasion.
Honorable Dr. P. D. Patil sir lit the lamp to commence the celebration, which was followed by the chanting of Saraswati Vandana to praise the goddess of learning and wisdom.
Dr. Neelu Nawani, Director DYPBBI and Dr. J. K. Pal, Research Director, DYPBBI felicitated with grandeur and bouquets to the chief guest for the evening, Honourable Chancellor Dr. P.D. Patil Sir, Dr. Smita Jadhav, Trustee and Executive Director of Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth (Pune), Dr. A. N. Suryakar, Registrar of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (Pune) as well as Dr. Derek Dsouza, Director for Students Training and Development, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth (Pune).
The director, Prof. Neelu Nawani addressed the gathering about the Cytosoul events which were conducted at the Institute, Tathawade Campus, and about overall academics of the year. The Director Research, Dr. J. K. Pal Sir also addressed everyone and enlightened everyone on his experience. Prof. Minal Wani introduced the chief guest, Honourable Chancellor, Dr. P. D. Patil Sir. Honorable Chancellor sir encouraged and motivated students to participate in extra-curricular activities along with academics and research. The General Secretary of the student council, Mr. Haet Kothari addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude towards management and all teaching and non-teaching staff on behalf of the student community of DYPBBI. The fantastic performances including classical and western dances, solo and duet singing, Mahabharat skit to The Big Hit Show improved the event's atmosphere. The student band of DYPBBI also gave a mesmerizing performance. It was an astonishing day filled with power-pack performances. The students then put on an amazing fashion show as a follow-up. Fashion show themes included Zodiac Signs, Superheroes vs Villains, The Eras, and Ethnic mixed with street-style wear. On the top of the show there, was a student council's walk and the highlight of the evening was the teacher's walk wherein Dr. Smita Jadhav, Trustee and Executive Director of Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth (Pune) also joined on the ramp! A vote of thanks was given by our cultural secretaries Jeevitha Reddy and Shiny Raj. The event of cytosoul was a big success with the active participation of students.
