Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute (DYPBBI), Tathawade, Pune organized a free online webinar on “Guidelines for Competitive Examinations (GRE)” on Friday 21st August 2020 at 1:00 pm via Zoom with Mr. Rajas Sontakke and Ms Archana Shinde from ‘Erudite Academy’ as the speakers. The purpose of the webinar was to acquaint students with the GRE examination. Ms. Priyanka Bhopale, Mr. Amol Salagare, Mrs. Arti Desmukh, Dr. Arvind Goja and Dr. Viniti Vaidya were the coordinators for this webinar. Dr. J. K. Pal, Director, welcomed the guest speakers and briefly addressed the students. In total, 198 students registered for this webinar from the Institute.

In the webinar, Mr. Rajas Sontakke gave a very detailed insight into the importance of GRE examination for students who want to pursue their studies abroad. He informed about the time when GRE examination is held in India, fees structure and syllabus of the exam. Ms. Archana Shinde spoke in the second half and explained certain tips and ideas which would help students crack the GRE General Examination. She discussed all sections of the question paper in detail. The webinar was concluded by a vote of thanks given by the student coordinator, Ms. Ritoja Ray.

This webinar was followed by an online survey for students. The purpose of the survey was to deduce what the students had understood during the webinar, whether they had found it useful and further suggestions for future. Following are some of the results of the questions asked in the survey:

In the survey, under additional suggestions section, most students reported that they had found the webinar very useful and suggested that more webinars should be held on the same examination where sample questions could be discussed. This would help the students assess the difficulty level of the exam. Overall, it was a very insightful webinar.
