Workshop on Bioprocess Engineering and Mathematical Approaches

Monday, August 10, 2020 - Tuesday, August 11, 2020 |Online |Workshop

Dr. D. Y. Patil Biotechnology & Bioinformatics Institute (DYPBBI), Tathawade, Pune organized a Two day free, online workshop on “Bioprocess Engineering and Mathematical Approaches, 2020” via Zoom on 10th and 11th August 2020 between 2.30 and 4.30 p.m. The purpose of this workshop was to enlighten and train the students with various aspects related to bioprocess engineering. The response of the students for this workshop was overwhelming which, drived us to increase the number of seats to accommodate maximum number of students. In all total 124 students registered for the workshop, out of which we were able to accommodate only 40 students.

There were four prominent speakers for this workshop, who illuminated the students on four different topics viz. bioreactor designing, bio-ethanol production, bioprocess kinetics and downstream processing. Mathematical assignments were solved during the workshop as well as in the form of homework assigned to the students. Mr. Amol Salagare and Dr. Gayatri Gera conducted the first day of workshop on the bioreactor designing and bio-ethanol production respectively. Second day of the workshop was handled by Dr. Shipra Deep and Prof. G.D. Tandon, where they guided the students on the bioprocess kinetics and its relevance and downstream processing usefulness respectively. On the last day, of the workshop feedback from the students was taken (Google forms) in which virtual videos made for the workshop were very well appreciated by the participants. Based on the successful submission of assignments they were rewarded with the e-certificates. This workshop organization was a part of ongoing summer internship activities which was initiated by Dr. Neelu Nawani. Her constant motivation, and support from Prof. Pal, Director, DYPBBI helped in the smooth conduct of this activity.
