Dept of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Dept of Oral Pathology, Dr. D.Y.Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pune conducted a CDE Workshop on 11th and 12th Sept 2017 on , “Regenerative medicine and its applications in medicine and dentistry”. The guest speakers were Dr. S. Shankarnarayanan and Dr. V. R. Ravi, Directors, Mother Cell Regenerative Centre, Trichy. The programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. P.D.Patil and Vice Chancellor Dr. P. N Razdan, Dr. D.Y.Patil Vidyapeeth, Dr. Ramesh Bhonde, Director Research and Dr. Deepak Kulkarni, Dean, Dr. D.Y.Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pune.The welcome address was given by Dr.Deepak Kulkarni.The Guest speakers Dr. S. Shankarnarayanan and Dr. V.R.Ravi were felicitated by Honorable Chancellor Dr.P.D.Patil sir. Vice Chancellor Dr. P. N Razdan, Dr. D.Y.Patil Vidyapeeth addressed the gathering and mentioned the importance of regenerative medicine.

The two day workshop had guest lectures by the Dr. S. Shankarnarayanan and Dr. V.R.Ravi on 11/9/17. Dr.Ramesh Bhonde ,Director, Research, Dr. D.Y.Patil Vidyapeeth  appreciated the guest lectures and  that it highlighted the insight to the future of regenerative medicine and its applications in medicine and dentistry.The live video demonstration of the operative procedure on 3 patients with Oral Sub Mucous Fibrosis was done on 12/8/17. This procedure included injecting mononuclear cells derived from bone marrow obtained from iliac crest  into the site of pathology. It was an innovative, academic and surgical learning for all faculty and postgraduate students of Dr. D.Y.Patil Vidyapeeth.
