Guest Lecture on Preventing Plagiarism

Under Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Global Business School and Research Centre, Tathawade, Pune, had organized a session on “Preventing Plagiarism: a workshop on effective writing. This session was conducted on Saturday, 10th September 2022. The speaker for the event was Dr. Shailendrakumar Kale, Professor & Research Head, GBSRC, Pune. This session was attended by 202 students and 2 faculty members. The objective behind organizing this event was to understand the concept of plagiarism, and its usage in effective writing.

The event started with the welcome and introduction of the speaker for the session by Dr. Avinash Ghadage. Dr. Shailendrakumar Kale had briefed the importance of plagiarism in effective writing, he discussed plagiarism cases happened recently and its consequences on author. Sir has briefed about plagiarism software available such as Turnitin, Urkund, iThenticate etc. which student can use to find duplicate data in the literature. Sir also discussed the types of research misconduct such as fabrication, falsification etc. used in writing reports. Sir has guided to avoid self-plagiarism while publishing own data on second time. He said without reference we should not copy someone’s data, whenever we copy someone’s data in our report, we should give his /her reference in the report. Sir also discussed about intellectual honesty in research and its examples

The webinar ended with a question- and-answer session followed by a vote of thanks given by Prof. Lavendra Patil.
