  • The annual fest of Dr. D.Y. Patil Biotechnology and Bioinformatics Institute “CYTOSOUL 2018" was held from 5th March 2018 to 9th March 2018. It was an exuberant event with students participating in various cultural and sports activities. The college building was decorated with the 'carnival' theme. Each day had a different theme and students dressed accordingly.

    The first day of Cytosoul is always a cultural day and this year it was no different. The girls shone bright in their beautiful sarees while the boys looked dapper in their Indian outfits. Cytosoul 2018 was inaugurated by the Director of DYPBBI, Prof. J.K. Pal and a cake was cut to celebrate the occasion. Prof. Pal officially handed over the badges to the student council and this marked the beginning of our annual fest. The cultural events held included Rangoli where students displayed their artistic side by making rangolis on themes such as science and women empowerment. Girls also participated in Henna tattoo event. As part of the Fun Fair event, stalls serving delicious food as well as stalls with interesting games were put up by the students. Simultaneously, indoor sports such as table tennis, chess and carrom were held in the basement.

    The theme for Day 2 (6th March 2018) was Angels v/s Demons. Some students were dressed up as their favourite villainous characters while others were dressed as sweet angels. The sports events included volleyball for girls and basketball for both boys and girls. Students participated in the paper dress game where they made innovative outfits out of newspapers. Mad ads was also played where participants had to endorse wacky products in an inventive manner.

    The theme for Day 3 (7th March 2018) of cytosoul 2018 was Twinning day where students dressed to look alike by wearing similar clothes. The day's sports started off with Tug Of War between students of different years. The teachers also participated and competed against the students creating a fun filled atmosphere on the ground. The students and faculty showed great enthusiasm even in the scorching heat. Both boys and girls played kho-kho which was the main attraction of the day. An intriguing treasure hunt was organized where students went looking for treasure across the entire campus. It was a titing day which ended on a good note.

    The theme for Day 4 (8th March 2018) was Bollywood/Glam Day. The students dressed in iconic Bollywood style and red carpet glamour. The sports events for the day included foot volleyball, a new game invented by the Sports Secretary for the boys and football for boys and girls. As it was 8th March, the International Women's Day, a special program was organized where eminent women were invited to share their success stories and to motivate the students. The first speaker was Ms. Monica Peswani co-founder of TAP (The Apprentice Project) an organization which helps underprivileged students. The second speaker of the day was Ln Shailaja Sangle -Lions Club member who promoted women empowerment and feminism. The third speaker of the day was Mrs. Jyotshna Mishra-Principal of Blossom Public School who spoke about casteism and enlightened everyone on the importance of education for women. It was an inspiring and motivational session for the students. Large number of cultural events were organized on this day starting with a wondrous game of sherlocked where the participants had to solve the clues to uncover the mystery. This was followed by a light hearted game of movie dubbing and matchstick game. The artistic side of the students was explored by a quick game of sketching. It was an extremely long day which ended with boys football match at 12 noon.

    The final and much awaited day of cytosoul 2018 was held on 9th March 2018 at the DYPBBI campus. The inauguration ceremony began with lighting of lamp by Dr. P.N. Razdan, Vice Chancellor and Prof. J.K. Pal followed by Saraswati Vandana. The meritorious students were awarded along with the student council members of the previous academic year. The cultural program started at around 05:30 pm. The students displayed their extraordinary talents in singing and dancing. The wonderful performances elevated the mood of the evening. This was followed by a spectacular fashion show put together by the students. The themes for the fashion show were bohemian, gothic, arabian and carnival. The participants executed their looks skilfully and enthralled the audience and the judges. The student council did an impromptu walk on the ramp. A prize distribution ceremony was held honouring the winners of various sports and cultural events of Cytosoul 2018. The vote of thanks was given by Nishant Lodha, who thanked the people responsible for making the event a success. This was followed by a DJ who had everyone grooving to his beats. Cytosoul 2018 was a roaring success which left everyone with lasting memories.
