  • A session was conducted for the students of MBA  and PGDM on 5/02/18 on the topic "Budget analysis". 

    There were 3 guests for today's lecture- CA. Shailendra Marathe,  Ashish Bhave CFP, and Dr. Hemendra Singh.

    CA. Marathe talked about the GST and Demonetization and the Indian Stock market, how its volatility. According to him, the budget is actually a small portion of what the government does. He said that budget must focus on certain sectors like Healthcare, defense, infrastructure, building the airport, the creation of jobs. Also, deficit management should be the main focus of the government.

    Mr.  Ashish bhave, said that the budget for this year was not that good because it has no relaxation for the taxpayers. There are certain people who are out of the tax bracket and the people who are inside this bracket are also not getting any benefit out of it. He talked about LTCG ( Long-term Capital gain) which is introduced again after 14 years.He denied the statement that the one who invests in the equity market are not rich people. Rather, he said that instead of saving one should try to earn more.

    The third speaker Dr. Hemendra Singh Spoke about the meaning of budget. He says that budget is static, not dynamic because once it is written on the paper it can't be changed. The focus of this budget is mostly rural and semi-urban areas. Immense job potential lies in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and town.

    Post individual speakers session, there was a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Leena Dam. Questions on the need for a railway university, cryptocurrency trading, specific benefits for senior citizens, savings options for the salaried class and need for divestment and disinvestment were posed. It was an interesting session as the panelist put forth their views complementing each other
