World Bioethics Day

Description

World Bioethics Day was celebrated in DPU campus on Friday 6th October 2017 from 10 am to 2 pm. This was celebrated by the DPU unit of  UNESCO chair in Bioethics, Haifa. We the student representatives of  Bioethics committee representing Dr. D. Y. Patil College Of Nursing, along with Mrs. Rupali Salvi, Associate Professor (Research unit of Bioethics committee) attended the program.

The opening speech was given by Dr. P. N. Razdan, Vice Chancellor of DPU. He gave an introduction about DPU’s Bioethics journey that was started four years before and the advancements in the treatment of patients by doctors, by maintaining ethics and concerns.

Local representative, Dr. (Mrs.) P. Vatsalaswamy, Director Academics Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College motivated and encouraged doctors and nurses for better treatment of patients using ethics.

The representative of UNESCO chair, Dr. Barna Gangoly, Head Of Department of Pharmacology and UNESCO Bioethics committee Gujarat was the Chief Guest for the program. She explained that equity, equality, and justice can be a remedial care to all people.

Thereafter award for active members was given. The speech was given by the chief guest Dr. Rangaswamy. He spoke about “Practice Humanity in Reality”. We are all digitally focused, only we should focus ourself to be inhuman not being as robots.

Discussion on book “Full moon much more” was done by Dr. Subhramanyam Rangaswamy, Prof. of Eminence in Medical Education, SRU, Former and Vice Chancellor of SRU, Dr. (Mrs.) P. Vatsalyaswamy, Dr. Kakrani and some other members, thereafter Panel Discussion was done on "Assault of health care professional: A bioethical exploration".

The program got over at 1:00 pm and vote of thanks done and refreshments held for all faculty members and students.
