In continuation of Saturday Seminar series, the second lecture was delivered by a renowned Scientist Dr. Birandra. K. Sinha, Ex-PI, NCI, NIH, Bathesda, MD, USA and currently a researcher at NIEHS, NIH, NC, the USA on “The role of nitric oxide in cancer drug resistance”.

In brief, Dr. Sinha started with basic hallmarks of cancer and helped students to understand the fundamental differences between normal and cancer cells. Later, Dr. Sinha emphasized and provided evidence on the interaction between nitric oxide and chemotherapy drugs. Importantly, Dr. Sinha highlighted new insights about the role of nitric oxide to promote cancer drug resistance via impacting the stability of Topoisomerase enzymes.

Around 50 students from B. Tech Biotechnology, B. Tech (Medical) Biotechnology, & M.Sc. Biotechnology and several faculty members attended and actively participated in this lecture. Prof. J. K. Pal, Director, DYPBBI, thanked Dr. Sinha for visiting the institute and sharing his research work. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Nilesh Kumar Sharma.
