The Ministry of Human Resource Development Govt. of India had decided to celebrate 21st February 2017 as Matrubhasha Divas (International Mother Language Day) to promote the use of mother tongue highlighting the linguistic diversity of our country. Accordingly Dr.D.Y.Patil college of nursing Pimpri, Pune by the order from Dr.D.Y.Patil University, celebrated Matrubhasha Divas On 21st February, 2017 to promote the use of mother tongues in all educational institutions by the first year, second year and third year B.Sc Nursing students, from 1:30 pm to3.30 pm under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Khurshid Jamadar, Principal, Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Nursing and all class coordinators and clinical instructors of respective batches.
On this occasion, various programs were arranged. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Khurshid Jamadar inaugurated the celebration, poster exhibition and expressed her views regarding using of Matribhasha so that the linguistic diversity of our country is preserved. Faculty and students of Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Nursing, Pimpri, Pune organized various activities like Exhibition, Essay Competition, Elocution and Singing Competition. Many Students participated in the event with lots of enthusiasm. The poster exhibition was organized by third-year B.Sc Nursing students. Posters were highlighting the importance of mother tongue. The essay competition was conducted in both Marathi and Hindi. Elocution and Singing Competition was more highlighting of the importance of Matribhasha in everyday life. These events were judged by Faculties from Dr.D.Y.Patil College of Nursing and winners were felicitated.
Mrs. Martha Raut (Asst. Professor) also emphasized to encourage learning of languages other than one’s own mother tongue. Madam proposed vote of thanks and program ended at 3.30pm.
